Vaccine at the VA

 March 26, 2021

C19 Available

Need a COVID-19 vaccination?

We are hosting a vaccination clinic this Saturday, March 27th at C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center for Veterans of all ages who receive care from VA. To make an appointment for this clinic, please call our COVID-19 Call Center at 727-395-2400 now.

We also offer COVID-19 vaccinations for enrolled and eligible Veterans at our C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Lee County VA Healthcare Center, and our Sarasota Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) locations, by appointment, Monday- Friday as vaccine is available.

CBOCs in Bradenton, Naples, Port Charlotte, Sarasota and Sebring are also offering COVID-19 vaccine to enrolled and eligible Veterans of all ages, by appointment. Vaccine appointments for these locations are based on vaccine availability.

Bay Pines VA Veterans of all ages, regardless of where they receive care, can always opt to get their vaccine at the C.W. Bill Young Medical Center.

Please note: we are continuing to offer vaccine to Veteran caregivers who are enrolled in VA’s Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) and designated as a caregiver.

How you can make an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Call our COVID-19 Call Center at 727-395-2400 to schedule your appointment. You can also visit our COVID-19 webpage for more information.

Why should you consider getting the COVID-19 vaccine now?

A vaccine will help protect you, other Veterans and our staff by lowering the risk of getting an infection.  Vaccines will also slow the spread of the virus protecting our families, friends, and neighbors.

What else you need to know.

You will need to receive two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, and one does of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to be more fully protected. Depending on the vaccine you receive, you may need to be available to come back to the location you received your first dose in either 21 or 28 days for your second dose.

After you receive the vaccine, it will still be important to continue wearing a mask in public, washing your hands, and staying at least 6 feet from others who don’t live with you until the virus is under control. It is our hope that a vaccine will help us all come through this pandemic together.

Please call us today to make an appointment!

Sarasota Breeze April 2021

Dear Member

Attached please find the April 2021 issue of the chapter newsletter — The Sarasota Breeze — AND a copy of the Luncheon Reservation Form for the April 16th Luncheon at Michaels on East. The Breeze, as well as the flyer, contain information on the precautions that will be taken at the luncheon in light of the need for social distancing.

Our Luncheon Speaker will be Joe Palmerio a local artist who has won many awards for his work. It is my understanding that he will be creating a painting while discussing his work, and the painting will be offered to the winner of the Scholarship drawing.

A REMINDER IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

Our chapter is hosting the 2021 Florida Council of Chapters Convention on May 14 to May 16 at the Westin Sarasota Hotel in downtown Sarasota.

We have a good turn-out of MOAA members from around Florida, Washington D.C, Georgia, and even Tennessee.
With the Convention in your backyard, there are some major events that you should consider attending -

Friday evening, May 14 President’s Reception
Saturday morning, May 15 All Hand Breakfast
Saturday evening, May 15 Military Gala

Additionally, there is a very informative Surviving Spouse Update session scheduled immediately following the All Hands Breakfast on Saturday morning that would be of interest to many of our members and their spouses.

The Convention Agenda and Registration are available on-line at www.moaafl.org

CHECK IT OUT AND DON’T MISS THIS CHANCE TO ATTEND THE CONVENTION WHEN IT IS IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD!!
SIGN UP TODAY!

Contact MOAS President Troy Scott if you have specific questions (941-379-3023).

We look forward to seeing you at the Meet & Greet on April 14th and Michaels on East on April 16th for the monthly luncheon..

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this issue of The Breeze - and as always, please let me know if you have a suggestion on how we can improve it.
