Social Marketing Report 2018

Start Spreading the News

We continue to refine and improve our Military Officers Association - Sarasota Chapter (MOAS) social marketing effort. This augments our Web Site, the Breeze Newsletter, email notifications, phone calls, and face to face communication. It helps us to recruit younger officers who often make extensive use of social marketing systems.

Telling The Troops
We operate on the time honored military communication system of telling the troops, then telling them again, and then telling them again. And again. Our social media amplifies the word we spread with the Breeze, on the Web Site, by email, and events.

We continue to try to engage our membership. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest encourage members to interact with and post information to our pages. They enable upward communication, from our members to other members and the leadership of the Board.

We post information on our Blog which members can find from our Web Site and social media sites. The address is sarasotamoaa.us which forwards to sarasotamoaa.blogspot.com. Here we publish an unlimited number of photos, notices and stories. We also publish The Breeze and other MOAA events.

We post many many photos on the blog and social media. Some of the photos are directly on the blog, while there are links in most posts to many more photos in Google Photos.

If you are active on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Pinterest please friend or link with us and contribute content to the site. We are always interested in content or photos so you can also email them to me and we will post them. Or you can post directly to our Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or Twitter pages.

The systems below encourage communication among our members and potential members. We communicate to our members, but on these systems they can also communicate with us. The addresses of our pages are:

Happy Holidays, Merry XMAS and Happy Hanukkah

Happy Holidays, Merry XMAS and Happy Hanukkah

Peace on Earth, Good Will to All

Vietnam XMAS Eve

Twas the Night Before Christmas,
When all through the House
The Creatures were stirring
and shooting up the place

On Christmas Eve 1969 I arrived in Vietnam. It was gently raining. A very large hill loomed inland over the Danang airport swathed in bright perimeter lights like a halo in the mist. It was impressive and beautiful and frightening. There was a great deal of firing and flares from the hill and some of the new guys thought we were under attack.

We ran into a large building, One Marine shouted, "They're really getting hit up there. Take cover!"

I moved to the Hill - Hill 327 a month later and found out that there had been no attack. It was simply a "lighting it up" impromptu firex to celebrate Christmas. Of course no one would openly admit that. You could fire at noises or sounds, so the troops were firing on Christmas eve at numerous noises and sounds.

Nice and impressive fireworks.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Spread The Good Word

You tell the troops, then you tell them again, and again, and again.  And then tell them again. Tell them often and in many different ways.

And of course a good leader also listens to his people.  Excellent Communication should be both ways.

Gala Dec 9

I look forward to seeing everyone at the 36th Annual Military Ball on December 9th. It is a time for me to step down as president and thank everyone for a wonderful and eventful year. It is your opportunity to meet the 2019 officers and directors of your chapter. Come dine, toast, sing and dance with your friends and say a fond farewell to Michael's On East, as we move on to the Bird Key Yacht Club next year as our luncheon venue.
