The purpose of this email is to forward for your action the latest MOAA Press Release (Feb 11, 2016)  regarding the proposals that our organization finds objectionable in the DoD FY 2017 Budget submittal  .

In my Legislative Update column in the February Communique http://www.moaafl.org/Communique/Issues/Feb2016.pdf  I gave you a heads up as to the areas where contentious proposals were anticipated. And now with the release of the President's Budget earlier this week those predictions have come to pass!

MOAA gives very wide distribution to their Press Releases in particular to the press and legislative offices in the DC area. But they count on our grass roots leaders to extend the distribution in their locales. I urge you to provide this release to the editorial boards of your local newspapers and other outlets that serve your locations.

Our challenges in protecting the compensation and benefits for members of the uniformed services and achieving MOAA's legislative goals for this year will be formidable. Your every effort in response to MOAA's Calls for Action will be necessary to ensure the benefits earned by their service and sacrifices to our country are not attacked in the name of fiscal constraints.

Later today you will be receiving more information in MOAA's Weekly Legislative Update email regarding the specifics on the pay raise cap (for the fourth year in a row!!)  and on the "participation" fee increases for Tricare beneficiaries.

Stand by for a very busy year in our advocacy mission for the currently serving servicemembers, retirees, families of the same and for our surviving spouses in particularly for the 880,000+ here in Florida.

Regards

Bob Bienvenue, FCoC Legislative Chair
