Colonel Bob Warren Rest in Peace Semper Fi

It is with great sadness that I forward this message to everyone. The email below says that Colonel Bob Warren passed away this morning. I don't have details about any arrangements at this time. He was a MARINE.
______________

He fought in World War 2, flying night interceptor fighters around Okinawa. During the Korean Conflict he was in the initial deployment of helicopters., and was involved in the first large scale movement ot Marines via chopper. He also flew numerous rescue missions for downed pilots.

In Vietnam he commanded an H-34 Squadron that saw far too much action. Prior to retiring, he transitioned to jet aircraft, and served in command of a jet squadron. At that point in time he was the only Marine Aviator who had commanded both fixed wing and rotor wing squadrons.

Colonel Warren was a true member and friend to Marine Corps Detachment 588.

This link is from a newspaper story about Colonel Warren: Veterans' Stories: Marine pilot served Vietnam, Korea and World War II - News - Sarasota Herald-Tribune - Sarasota, FL

______________

Colonel Warren was a member of the Bradenton, Florida Marine Corps League Chapter 588.

Rest in Peace, Colonel
