The Sarasota MOAA has begun a once a month Happy Hour / Meet and Greet on the second Friday of the month from 5 to 7 pm. We went to our first Happy Hour at the Cafe Epicure in downtown Sarastoa on January 10, 2014. A good time was had by all.
Twenty two people joined us - existing MOAA members and potential new members. We had quite a range of dates of service - one Marine is just back from Afghanistan in 2013 and one Navy Vet started his service in the World War II in 1941. A range of 72 years.
Our Happy Hour is planned to recreate the camaraderie we enjoyed in the Officers Club back when we were on active duty. We will have a few drinks and swamp some stories. We also want members and prospective members to get to know each other in an informal setting.
Uniform is informal - Summer Service "C" / civilian short sleeve shirt. This is Florida. We encourage you to join us.
We hope you can make the next Happy Hour / Meet and Greet on Friday February 14, 2014 at the Cafe' Epicure in downtown Sarasota at 1298 Palm Ave (Corner of Palm and Main Street). They have a side room that is convenient. This is also Valentines Day so take your significant other out to dinner afterwards and/or provide flowers.
